Please contact Ray Williams if you are interested and as soon as possible to get your application in. The Taco Breakfast brought in nearly $350 which is pretty good considering Masses have been light recently due to summer vacations. OUR NEXT BUSINESS MEETING WILL BE HELD ON AUGUST 1ST AT A SPECIAL TIME OF 7PM. THE JERSEY VILLAGE OPTIMIST CLUB WILL BE ATTENDING AFTER THE MEETING AT APPROXIMATELY 7:45PM TO DISCUSS THE NEXT CHICKEN SATURDAY. WE WILL HAVE FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS AFTER THE MEETING SO PLEASE BE THERE BY 7PM. Our next Social Meeting will be held on August 22nd at 7pm at our Past Grand Knight Steve Goodmans house. You remember what a great time was had last year, so plan on attending to do it all over again. We will supply drinks, hamburgers and hot dogs, please bring a covered dish. We would like to thank our Past Grand Knight, Steve Goodman, for the great job as Grand Knight. We all understand the past few months have been hard on him as his father, also a Brother Knight, has been ill and we ask that you all keep his father in your prayers. NEWS ITEMS FROM THE LAST MEETING Over the past few years we have had many different social activities. Some of them have been great, others not so good. We have learned from experience. But we have never turned down any idea for a social activity!!! We have yet to go see the Astros, Oilers (time is running out), Rockets, Hotshots or Terror and its been ages since we went to the Dog Track. We could also go to the beach, IMAX, Museum or for an adults only thing, we may even go to a play, show or opera. They are the Lecturer, Chuch Director, Community Director, Family Director, Youth Director, Council Activities Director, Program Director and Membership Director. These appointees support the Council in the following ways: LECTURER - This appointee is supposed to bring some fun to the meetings. His is about the last report of the meeting. He can tell a couple of jokes, do a raffle for prizes, anything positive for the members attending. CHURCH DIRECTOR - This appointee works with the Church. His job is to collaborate on projects we can help with. If they need the Knights for security for the Youths, for some manual labor, cooking the fish during the Fish Fries, etc. COMMUNITY DIRECTOR - The Community Director should oversee all the community type projects in which the council participates, such as the Adopt-a-Road Program, the Houston Life Chain, the Chicken Saturdays in association with the Jersey Village Optimists Club. FAMILY DIRECTOR - The Family Director oversees our family related projects, such as choosing the Family of the Month, the Christmas Party, Annual Picnics etc. It is also his job just like the other Directors to continue to come up with new ideas to keep members and their families coming out. YOUTH DIRECTOR - It is the youth directors job to keep up with the youth projects of the council. The Free Throw contest is one example. COUNCIL ACTIVITIES - These activities are Council Socials, Knight of the Month, Taco Breakfasts, Sports, etc. PROGRAM DIRECTOR - This director oversees and coordinates all the other directors and is the focal point for the Grand Knight when he needs to go to one of the other directors. MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR - This director is to coordinate all membership events. Membership drives, providing membership materials at Counci functions, and finding all ways possible to attract new members. BLOOD DRIVE The first blood drive run by Our Council will be on August 4th. If you are interested in helping out please come to the next meeting or let Ken Wall know. One of the clear and vivid memories of my Knights of Columbus initiation was that I received a rosary and went home with it in my pocket. This is still the practice today when men join the Knights of Columbus. Brothers, are we still men of prayer? Or, has the rosary you received when you became a K.C. member been on a L-O-N-G vacation? The Knights of Columbus believe in family prayer and promotes it among its members. May I remind you, brothers, that the man is the spiritual head of the household. Therefore, the father/husband should be the leader of prayer in his home; he should be the #1 example of prayer to his wife and children. Spiritual Development Commission is providing a valuable opportunity for all of us to be men of prayer. On Monday, August 19th, Fr. Charles Sellars, O.M.I. will be speaking here at our church. His topic will be The Many Gifts of Mary: How Our Lady Leads Us To Her Son, Jesus. Fr. Sellars has a Ph.D. in Family Counseling and writes for the Medjugore Star. He was vicar of St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans until recently. He is now pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in Silsbee, Texas. On this evening (August 19th) rosary begins at 6:30pm in the Worship Space. Music is at 7, Welcome at 7:15 and Fr. Sellars talk at 7:30. It will last about an hour; a reception will follow. It is my hope and prayer that our council will participate in this 100%. Bring your families. It is an opportunity to pray together, to learn more about Mary, our Spiritual Mother and how love and devotion to her leads to a stronger faith in Jesus, our Saviour. FR ADAMS MESSAGE new newsletter editor I will be stepping down as newsletter editor asap. If there is anyone out there who is interested in doing the newsletter, please come to our next meeting. ADOPT A ROAD Fr Adam came to our last meeting and he spoke about the lack of participation on some of our projects, the Adopt a Road included. He suggested that we include our children when we go to clean up the road. One of the important things they can learn is to respect the Earth and protect it, rather than use it as a dumping ground. With that said and my failure to include the correct times and dates, I will rerun the same 15 people at the correct date and time. The date is Sunday August 4th. The time to meet in Randalls Parking Lot is 1pm. The next 15 volunteers are as follows: Alvin Winkler Ken Zavatsky Bill Acosta Mark Bontempo Mark Yahnke Michael Zientek Michael Barzyk Joe Bontke Bret Young George Zolli Domenic Beranato Lawrence Boriskie Michael Zakrajsec Mark Abruzzese Richard Berger Page 9]_`a" a g!r!s!!!!!:";"F"G"V"W"~"##$$%%&&''W(j(((x))D*Q*,,..I1\1]1t12"2T5Y5Z5\5]5 ' A#0 & $= p9T_f!r!!!!!"8":"F"V"|"~"##$%սեvfVF|V|V|VA|VP NI !hcKO h8!hcK h8!hcK h8 h8 %&'W((x)C*Q**L,-y/=0H1\1t12"2o3F4n444!5S5\5̻{{{{{u |VB|VOO O O |V|V_5 ZZZZ]5%\5_5_Oh+'ټHG[m @ rY%45 C rYrY(Yr_Ole CompObj fContentsrInternal OlePres000 d<OlePres0018VOle =CompObj;fContents9hInternal8OlePres000+OlePres001 d 28PSCRIPTCompaq PageMarq 15 PostScriptLPT1:Compaq PageMarq 15 PostScriptg od 0A̡* dCustom page 1BBCustom page 2BBCustom page 3BB VS ) ;Y - "-8".Q\ "&+/4:?~E}K}Q|W|^|e|p|{}~~]C '-38>CHMQUY]adgjmortvxz{}~{xvrolhd`[VQLGA;4.' ~"~-~5~=DKRY_ekpuzkVQQpx| {tifpx #)/4:AGMSY`elrp !-;dXMC:2*$ - "-- "-`8 QiQ|mnoppbnkdqrttuavOvCGKPTW[_bfisplhd_[VQLGB=71+%%,3:@FLRX]chmqvz~~zupke_YRL{Dx=u6s.q%%Qim"UUbbb*m"--- "-8 (QZbjr{ !$,/36:>AEILPTX\`dglpuz~}|{{zzzzzz{|4d4d~ule^WPMIFC@<96zGzQzZzdzxz{|ddygVNF?81+$ !+6ANdudd5 51$ynbXND:1)! {vrmhc5*7DP\fpz{vpiaYOE:o##-7AKU^govsojfa\WRMGB<60)##*/5IT_is|{vqke_YRLD=5-% }wqkfa]Y~UvRlOcLYJOIEG:F0F$FF GHKLNOQSVX[]_~awbpcidce^eYdSdMbFa?^9[2W+V'T#Vks &BN Q][SI=0ie k #(,037;>BEHKNQSUWY[\^_``aaaa`_^\ZX UQNIE!@&:+50.2*6-4125.<*C&J!PUZ_ cfikmnooooonmljhfdb_]ZWSPLHD@<73.)$ &2=IT_jt~ $)-27AKV`kv %0;;0$ |rg]SJ@7.*%! vlbXNC8-" )4>I{Sw\sennhvb~\UNE=4+!!&,2782+)}vmd[Q zvrn%k'n!tz 7M`q--- "-83NV_hqz %.47:=ADGLQTVY\`dhlrx~}zwusqponmmmnnopqsuw y{~ %*.37;>ADGIKMOPQRRRRRQPONLJHF C@=:62!.%*(%+ .147 :CI?S;\7e2n,v&~ !%),0{4w7r:n=i@dC_EZHUJOLJNDP>R8T2U+V)Hvtqnjfa\VPIA:1(rg^VOID >:62%/'2!8>DJ PW]ckt~$5DQ[`dhlpsvy|~--- "-8 (Q]Zebkjqrw{} ~&}-|5{={EzNzXzazkzz{|ddn]UMF?82+% (2=HUk|dd< <8+ui_UKA80( {vrmhc5*7DP\fpz}wph`VLAv**4>HR\env}zvqmhc^YTNIC=70**16e9e4d/d**QvQ]tDxHPW^djqv{|wqke_zYqRiKtD"HP)!)29AHOV\|bsgil`qWvMzD~JnRjZfbbj^rYzTNHC<6/' --- "-"8EQTX[_cfmtz !!"""""w ee2fz`^][YWUROLIFB>:62.26:>BEILOSVX[]`bdfhj~kxmrnlofp_qXrRrJsCs;s4sss+8EP[fox~|zwtplgc^XRLE>7/' 2xqiaXOF<1'QQB\N N YbNNNOOOPPQQRSTUWZ]a~d{gwjsnprlvizeb^[WTQQvel}{zxwvv--- "-8(bY &}-{4z~A~CEGIKMNPQRSTTUXXXYZ[]^_abbccccc2xx79lt{ %*06~5-&PPz{tlS^^t%--- "-8 (QZbjr{ !%(,037;?CGKNSW\agmt~{}|{{zzzzzz{|ddzoe\SLE>740-*'# #(2;CKRX^bhnu}dd PP}uh\WRMHC>:51-{)v&r"mhc5*7DP\fpz~{xvtqpnlkihgffeeddQQtxzqit..::.]w~mv~|si`WMDJRZbjrz|ume]--- "-{8;4,%}yuoic^YUROL~JmI\HKH:H-I JKLNQTWZ^bgkqvy|~zslf`[VROLIGFEEEFG HIKN#P*S0W6Z<^CcHhNmTrYx_~dinrv{ "-9DP[fpyzrjc[TME=6/'2EWj|%*{gR>+ ",6BNZhvzz!&.>}oaTH<1' %(0;GUdvjH '4@DH>5-% (282,& }zxusqp#o*n2m:lBlJlPmWm]mcnioopuq{rtuwy{}"|.u;mGeT\aSmIy?92,% "0=K!X(e/r6>FIA91*#vj]Q D7*'/6>FzMpTg\]cSjIq>w4~)~w|pwjrcm]hXbS]NWIQELAF=?99633,1&/-+* )('''()*+-/147:=AFJOIC>940,)&#! !
